Listings Photos Fails...and how YOU should do it better!
We have all seen them during our home searches. And while they give us a chuckle, they don't make us pick up the phone to call our Realtor and set an appointment.
Here they are...the bad, the ugly, and of course, how you should actually have your photos taken to showcase that beautiful home!!!
Take exterior photos with an angle, photos taken straight ahead look 2-dimensional.
Small rooms, like bathrooms should be photographed with a wide angle lens.

Weekend Project: 7 Ways to Add Curb Appeal
Curb appeal is attractiveness of the exterior of a residential or commercial property, as viewed from the street. The term was extensively used in the United States during the housing boom and continues to be used as an indicator of the initial appeal of a property to prospective buyers.
...and Here is how you get it!!!
Add outdoor art Give your yard a little spunk and curb appeal by adding weather-resistant artwork. Choose pieces that complement your home's natural palette and exterior elements. Birdbaths, metal cutouts, sculptures, and wind chimes are good choices for outdoor art. Water sculptures not only function as yard art, but the burbling sounds soothe and make hot days feel cooler. Place fountains on level ground in optimum hearing and sight vantage points. Avoid spots in leaf-dropping range. |
Build a walkway Well-designed walkways make your home feel warm and inviting. For a dramatic improvement to a straight concrete path, replace it with a contoured one made of stone or brick. For a less radical upgrade to your curb appeal, apply a colored concrete resurfacer to the old walkway, then edge with brick or stone borders. Brick pavers offer traditional, classic beauty to the landscape of any home. |
Add shutters or accent trim Shutters and trim add a welcoming layer of beauty and curb appeal to your home's exterior. Shutters also control light and ventilation, and provide additional security. Exterior shutters can be made of wood, aluminum, vinyl, composite, or fiberglass. New composite materials, such as PVC resins or polyurethane, make trim details durable and low maintenance. |
Install window boxes Window boxes offer a fast, easy way to bring color and charm to your home's curb appeal. Choose boxes made from copper or iron for a traditional look, or painted wood for a cottage feel. Mix and match flowers and plants to suit your lighting conditions and color scheme. |

San Antonio's Mendez Family gets their own Reality TV show... "Texas Trocas"
I am sure we have all experienced driving down the highway and passing one of those glorious big rigs, giving them the standard arm gesture that is quickly followed by the often very loud TOOT of the air horn!
And while that is satisfaction enough, I often find myself intrigued by the massive amounts of wheels, chrome, lights and decorative paint that are these wheeled masterpieces.
The show, called “Texas Trocas”, will be a spanish-language show and will premiere on Sept. 15. Texas Chrome Shop is promoting the show this week at the Great American Trucking Show.
Raul Mendez, co-owner of Triple R Diesel and the Texas Chrome Shop, says each episode will show the transformation of a custom truck from start to finish. The other element of the show is the family’s interactions during the custom builds.
“Texas Trocas” will feature Raul and his brother Roland, along with their parents and their wives.
In each episode, a customer will come to the shop, present their ideas and needs for their truck, along with their budget and deadline for completion, and the shop will tear it down and build back the custom rig.
